KROK exam in Ukraine 

Medicine is a very important and responsible sphere. Therefore, getting a medical education is not so easy, regardless of the country. Ukraine is no exception. Students are required to attend theoretical and practical exams, study well, pass specific exams successfully.

The KROK examination is a series of tests, that every student of the medical faculty needs. Students who failed it, can’t pass their attestation and will be excluded from their university without diploma of higher education.

The examination system allows to test the knowledge of future professionals. There 2 types of this exam:

1. KROK 1;
2. KROK 2.

They are the main component of the state certification of medical students, allow to assess the level of their education honestly and impartially.

 KROK 1 

When students finish their main specialized disciplines, they have the KROK 1. It includes tasks on general scientific disciplines of first 3 courses. There are some of them:

• Biology
• Biological Chemistry
• Physiology
• Pathomorphology
• Pharmacology
• Human anatomy
• Physiology
• Histology
• Microbiology

A valid result is 60,5%. Students receive a booklet with 200 tests, and they have only 200 minutes to give the correct answers. If the first attempt didn’t bring the good result, student has 2 opportunities to retake his exam within a specified time.

If all three attempts are not successful, the student are not allowed to the next stage and their studying stops.

 KROK 2 

KROK 2 is an exam that consists of approximately professional disciplines. Future doctors have this exam at the last course. It includes tasks of such profiles:

• therapeutic
• surgical
• pediatric
• gynecology & obstetrics

The first one is the most important, therapeutic profile tasks include about 40% of questions. The surgery with 20% has the second priority and so on. The evaluation system in this case is the same. If the student received the “not passed” result, he doesn't receive his diploma as well and can’t work by education. There is one more attempt to pass the exam, but not earlier than one year.

Exam Procedure 

Students whose health allows to pass the exam are permitted for testing. The Testing Center produces and uses closed examination booklets. Exam is held in the classroom with capacity up to 100 people. Strangers are not allowed, except the testing center employer and the representative of the National Police of Ukraine. They can’t communicate with students or walk around the audience during the exam.
